What is fixed and what may change
The dates come from the official GOV.UK bank holiday list. The main entries are for England and Wales. Days that apply only in Scotland or only in Northern Ireland are marked as partial, with the nation named.
When a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a substitute weekday is given. In 2027 this gives 27 and 28 December everywhere, and 4 January in Scotland.
Employers do not have to give bank holidays as paid leave. They can count them as part of the 5.6 weeks of statutory annual leave. Check the employment contract.
The government can add one-off bank holidays, for example for royal events. None was announced for 2027 when we last checked.
