What is fixed and what may change
The holidays follow from the Law on Official Holidays and Commemorative Days. Albania keeps both Catholic and Orthodox Easter, both Bajrams, Nowruz and Christmas as days off for everyone.
When a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the day off moves to the next working day (Labour Code). In 2027 this happens nine times, so there are many Monday and Tuesday days off.
The two Bajram dates follow the lunar calendar and may still move by a day. If Kurban Bajram moves, the day off in lieu moves with it.

What is fixed and what may change
Bosnia and Herzegovina has no state-wide law on holidays. The Federation of BiH, Republika Srpska and Brčko District each have their own rules. Only New Year (1 and 2 January) and Labour Day (1 and 2 May) are days off in all three. Other days apply in one part of the country only.
In 2027, 2 May falls on a Sunday. Under the rules of all three parts, Monday 3 May is a day off. Holidays that fall on a Saturday are not moved.
Religious holidays are not days off for everyone. In Republika Srpska believers have a right to paid leave on Christmas, Easter and the Bajrams. In the Federation employees may take up to four days a year for religious needs, two of them paid. The Islamic dates depend on the moon and are not yet confirmed.
Governments can add one-off days off. In 2026 the Federation government made 2 March a day off because Independence Day fell on a Sunday. Check the notices for the part of the country where your employees work.

What is fixed and what may change
The national holidays follow from federal laws: Law 662/1949, Law 6.802/1980 (12 October) and Law 14.759/2023 (20 November). Good Friday is a religious holiday under Law 9.093/1995. It is formally set by municipal law, but the federal calendar lists it as a national holiday.
Holidays that fall on a weekend are not moved. In 2027, 1 May, 20 November and 25 December are Saturdays.
Carnival, Ash Wednesday, Corpus Christi and Public Servant Day are optional days off for federal civil servants. The ministry sets them each year. The 2027 list was not published when we checked, so these dates follow the 2026 list. The 2026 list also had two bridge days and the afternoons of 24 and 31 December.
States and municipalities have their own holidays, for example the state anniversary and up to four municipal religious holidays. The number of days off depends on where people work.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from article 154 of the Labour Code. Easter is set by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church: in 2027 it is on 2 May.
When a holiday other than Easter falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the next working day or days are off. In 2027 this gives three extra days: 4 May, 27 and 28 December.
The Council of Ministers may still declare extra one-off days off (art. 154(3)). We found no such decision for 2027 when we last checked.

What is fixed and what may change
The law gives 13 public holidays: New Year (1 day), Spring Festival (4 days, from lunar New Year's Eve), Qingming (1), Labour Day (2), Dragon Boat (1), Mid-Autumn (1) and National Day (3). Since 2025 Spring Festival and Labour Day each have one more day.
The exact days off for 2027 were published by the State Council on 5 November 2026. Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are made up on weekdays, and some weekdays are swapped with weekends to form longer breaks: 9 days for Spring Festival, 5 for Labour Day and 7 for National Day.
In return, five weekend days are working days: Sunday 31 January, Sunday 14 February, Saturday 8 May, Sunday 26 September and Saturday 9 October.
Some days are off only for part of the population, for example a half day for women on 8 March and a day for children under 14 on 1 June. These are not made up when they fall on a weekend.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from Law 51 of 1983 and, for 9 July, Law 2578 of 2026. Easter is on 28 March 2027, which fixes Holy Week, Ascension, Corpus Christi and Sacred Heart.
Eleven holidays move to the following Monday when they do not fall on a Monday, also when they fall on a Sunday. The page shows the Monday that is the actual day off.
New Year, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, 1 May, 20 July, 7 August, 8 December and Christmas are never moved. In 2027, 1 May, 7 August and 25 December are Saturdays and give no extra day off.
The 9 July holiday is new and a lawsuit against it is pending at the Constitutional Court. We found no ruling when we checked. If the court strikes it down, 12 July 2027 may become a normal working day.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from the Law on Holidays, Memorial Days and Non-Working Days (NN 110/19, 72/25). Easter follows the Western calendar: 28 March in 2027. Corpus Christi is 60 days after Easter: 27 May.
Croatia does not move holidays that fall on a weekend. The law says a holiday on a Sunday is not carried over to the next day. In 2027, 1 May, 30 May, 15 August, 25 and 26 December fall on a weekend.
Members of some faiths have extra days off. Muslims get one day of their choice for Ramadan Bayram and one for Kurban Bayram. Jews get one day of their choice for Rosh Hashanah and one for Yom Kippur. These are not fixed dates, so they are not listed above.

What is fixed and what may change
This page covers the Republic of Cyprus only. The north of the island, under Turkish Cypriot administration, follows a different calendar.
The dates follow the 2027 bank holiday list published by the Central Bank of Cyprus. Easter and Kataklysmos follow the Orthodox calendar: Easter is on 2 May in 2027.
There is no general law that makes these days paid days off in the private sector. It depends on the employment contract or the collective agreement. Many employers give them as paid days off in practice.
Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not moved. In 2027 this applies to 1 May, 15 August, 25 and 26 December.

The Czech Republic does not move holidays that fall on a weekend. In 2027, 1 May, 8 May, 25 and 26 December fall on a Saturday or Sunday, so there is no extra day off for them.
The law also lists significant days, such as 27 January or 12 March. These are normal working days.

In Germany each federal state (Land) sets its own public holidays by law. Nine holidays apply in every state. German Unity Day on 3 October is set at federal level.
Easter-based holidays follow the Western calendar. In 2027 Easter is on 28 March, Ascension on 6 May, Whit Monday on 17 May and Corpus Christi on 27 May.
Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not moved. In 2027, 1 May, 3 October and both Christmas days fall on a weekend.
Some holidays apply only in certain municipalities: Corpus Christi in parts of Saxony and Thuringia, Assumption in parts of Bavaria, and 8 August only in Augsburg. Check the local rules if you have staff there.

The dates come from the Bank and Public Holidays Order 2026, which the Government of Gibraltar made under the Banking and Financial Dealings Act and published on 1 October 2026.
The date of the King's Birthday holiday is not yet set. We show 14 June based on 2025 and 2026. Check again once the government confirms it.
Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a weekend in 2027, so the days off are Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December. May Day is on Monday 3 May, because 1 May is a Saturday.

What is fixed and what may change
Nine days are mandatory holidays for all employees under article 60 of Law 4808/2021: 1 and 6 January, 25 March, Easter Monday, 1 May, 15 August, 28 October, 25 and 26 December. Easter follows the Orthodox calendar: 2 May in 2027.
Clean Monday, Good Friday and Holy Spirit Monday are days off for the public sector. In private companies they are working days unless a collective agreement, the employment contract or company custom says otherwise.
Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not moved. The exception is 1 May: the Minister of Labour can move it when it falls on a Sunday, in Holy Week or on Easter Monday. In 2027 it is Holy Saturday, so we expect a move to Tuesday 4 May, as in 2021. Check again once the decision is published.

What is fixed and what may change
The public holidays follow from section 102 of the Labour Code. Easter follows the Western calendar: 28 March in 2027, so Whit Monday is 17 May. Easter Sunday and Pentecost Sunday are treated like public holidays for work schedules.
Christmas Eve is not yet final. Parliament passed a law on 3 November 2026 that makes 24 December a public holiday every year. It takes effect only after it is published in the official gazette, which had not happened when we last checked.
Hungary does not give a day off in lieu when a holiday falls on a weekend. Instead, the ministry issues a yearly decree that may turn a bridge day into a day off, worked back on another day of the same month (never a Sunday). We found no decree for 2027. In 2027 no holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, so no bridge days are likely, but this is not confirmed.

What is fixed and what may change
India has no single list of public holidays for private employers. Each state sets holidays for shops, factories and offices under its own laws. These laws include 26 January, 15 August and 2 October as paid holidays (for example the Karnataka Act of 1963), so we show these three days as national holidays.
The other dates come from the central government list for 2027 (DoPT office memorandum of 16 July 2026). It applies to central government offices in Delhi and New Delhi. Central government offices elsewhere keep 14 compulsory holidays and choose 3 more per state, so Holi, Ram Navami and Janmashtami may be replaced there.
The dates of Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi may change after the moon is sighted; the government then announces the new date, sometimes at short notice.
For central government offices, a holiday that falls on a weekly day off is not replaced by another day. Banks follow separate rules. The weekly day off in private companies depends on state law and on the employer.

What is fixed and what may change
The rest days follow from section 18A of the Law and Administration Ordinance and the Independence Day Law. They follow the Hebrew calendar, which is fixed in advance, so all 2027 dates are final.
Each holiday begins at sunset the evening before. On the day before a holiday a working day may not be longer than seven hours (Hours of Work and Rest Law, section 2). Collective agreements may set even shorter hours.
The weekend is Friday and Saturday. Holidays that fall on a Friday or Saturday are not moved. In 2027 Shavuot is on a Friday, and the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot and Shemini Atzeret are on a Saturday.
Employees who are not Jewish have the right to rest on their own holidays instead. The intermediate days of Passover and Sukkot are not rest days under the law.

What is fixed and what may change
The holidays follow from the Law on holidays (articles 2 and 3) and the Labour Code (article 84). Since 1 July 2026 Constitution Day is on 15 March instead of 30 August, so 2027 is the first year with a day off on 15 March.
When a national or state holiday falls on a day off, the next working day is a day off. The dates in lieu shown here are for a five-day week (Saturday and Sunday off). This rule does not apply to Orthodox Christmas and Kurban ait.
Only the first day of Kurban ait is a day off. Its date is set each year by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims and depends on the moon, so 16 May is expected, not final. Oraza ait (end of Ramadan, about 9 March) is not a day off.
The labour ministry may also move days off to other working days, which can turn a Saturday into a working day. We found no such order for 2027 when we last checked.

What is fixed and what may change
Employees in Luxembourg are entitled to 11 legal public holidays a year under the Labour Code. Europe Day (9 May) is one of them. Easter Monday, Ascension and Whit Monday follow the Western calendar: 29 March, 6 May and 17 May in 2027.
Holidays are not moved to another date. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, employees get a compensatory day off. The same applies when it falls on a working day the employee would not have worked, such as a Saturday for a Monday to Friday schedule.
In 2027 this concerns 1 May and 25 December (Saturdays) and 9 May, 15 August and 26 December (Sundays). The compensatory day should in principle be given within 3 months after the holiday. If the business cannot allow this, it can be given until the end of the year, or until March of the next year for holidays in November and December.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from the National Holidays and other Public Holidays Act (Chapter 252): five national holidays and nine other public holidays. Good Friday follows the Western calendar: 26 March in 2027.
Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not moved to a weekday. Since 2021, each such holiday gives employees one extra day of vacation leave for that year instead.
In 2027 three holidays fall on a weekend: 1 May, 15 August and 25 December. Employees therefore get three extra days of vacation leave in 2027.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from article 74 of the Federal Labour Law. Three holidays are always on a Monday: the first Monday of February, the third Monday of March and the third Monday of November.
A holiday that falls on a weekend is not moved. In 2027, 1 May and 25 December are Saturdays.
Holy Thursday (25 March) and Good Friday (26 March) are not rest days under the law. An employer may still give them off, voluntarily or under a contract.
Article 74 also makes 1 October a rest day every six years when a new president takes office, and the day of an ordinary election where the electoral laws say so.

What is fixed and what may change
Holidays for everyone follow from the Law on State and Other Holidays: New Year, Labour Day, Independence Day, Statehood Day and Njegoš Day. Each lasts two days.
If the first day of such a holiday is a Sunday, the next two days are off. If the second day is a Sunday, the next day is off. In 2027 this gives Monday 3 May, and probably Monday 15 November.
Religious holidays are not days off for everyone. Under the Law on Celebrating Religious Holidays, Orthodox, Catholic, Muslim and Jewish employees get paid leave on their own holidays and must tell the employer at least three days in advance. Orthodox employees may also take their family patron saint day (krsna slava).
The Islamic dates depend on the moon and are estimates until they are confirmed.

What is fixed and what may change
The dates follow from the Law on Holidays. Each year the government also publishes a list of non-working days. The list for 2027 was not yet out when we checked, so we used the law and the 2026 list.
Ramazan Bajram (Eid al-Fitr) is a day off for everyone. Its date depends on the Islamic calendar, so 9 March is an estimate until the government confirms it. The same applies to Kurban Bajram.
When a holiday for everyone falls on a Sunday, the next day is off. In 2027 no such holiday falls on a Sunday. Holidays on a Saturday, such as 1 May and 23 October, are not moved.
Many days apply only to one religion or community, for example Orthodox Good Friday, Catholic Christmas or Albanian Alphabet Day. Only employees who belong to that group get the day off, and these days are not moved when they fall on a weekend.

What is fixed and what may change
Public holidays in Pakistan are set each year by a circular of the Cabinet Division. The circular for 2027 has not been issued yet; the one for 2026 came out on 19 January 2026. All dates here follow the 2026 list and are expected.
Muslim holidays depend on the sighting of the moon. We estimated them from the astronomical new moons. Each may move by a day, and the government may change the number of days off: in 2026 it moved the Eid al-Fitr holidays by a later notification. Ashura may fall one day earlier (14 and 15 June).
The 2026 circular gives no replacement day for holidays that fall on a weekend. The circular is addressed to government offices; exporters may stay open on these days if they pay their workers overtime.
Federal government offices work either five days (Monday to Friday) or six days (Monday to Saturday) a week. The page shows Saturday and Sunday as the weekend.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from Law 7544 of 2025, which replaced the earlier holiday laws. Easter is on 28 March 2027, so Holy Thursday and Good Friday are on 25 and 26 March.
Four holidays are movable: 1 March, 12 June, 20 June and 29 September. Each year the government may move them by decree to the Monday before or after. There is no automatic rule, and in 2026 the decrees came only shortly before the dates. Until a decree is published, we show the dates set in the law.
Other holidays are not moved. In 2027, 1 May, 15 May and 25 December are Saturdays, and 15 August is a Sunday.
The government may also add up to three extra national holidays a year by decree, for example for tourism. It may declare days off (asuetos) for the public sector only; these are not holidays for private companies.

What is fixed and what may change
The dates follow from Proclamation No. 1427, signed by the President on 8 September 2026. It sets 10 regular holidays and 8 special non-working days. 25 February, the EDSA anniversary, is a special working day: a normal working day.
Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha are regular holidays too, but their dates are proclaimed separately once the Islamic calendar dates are known. The dates shown are our estimate and may move by a day.
Pay rules differ. On a regular holiday employees are paid even if they do not work, and get 200% if they work. On a special non-working day the rule is "no work, no pay" unless company policy or a collective agreement says otherwise, and work is paid 30% extra.
Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not moved in 2027. The President may still declare extra special days, nationally or for single provinces and cities.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from article 1 of the Act on days free from work. Easter, Pentecost and Corpus Christi follow the Western calendar: 28 March, 16 May and 27 May in 2027.
Christmas Eve (24 December) has been a day off since 2025, after an amendment that came into force on 1 February 2025.
Holidays are not moved to another date. But when a holiday falls on a Saturday, working time is cut by 8 hours, so employees get another day off within the same settlement period. The employer chooses the day. In 2027 this applies to 1 May and 25 December.
A holiday that falls on a Sunday gives no extra day off. In 2027 these are Easter Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, 15 August and 26 December.

What is fixed and what may change
The 13 mandatory holidays are listed in article 234 of the Labour Code. Corpus Christi, 5 October, 1 November and 1 December were removed in 2013 and restored in 2016. Easter-based dates follow the Western calendar: Easter is on 28 March in 2027.
Carnival Tuesday and the municipal holiday are optional. They are days off only if a collective agreement or the employment contract provides for them. Each municipality has its own holiday on a different date.
Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not moved. In 2027 Easter Sunday, 25 April, 1 May, 15 August and 25 December fall on a weekend.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from article 139 of the Romanian Labour Code. Easter and Pentecost follow the Orthodox calendar: 2 May and 20 June in 2027.
Romania does not move holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday: there is no day off in lieu.
Each year the government usually grants extra "bridge" days off to the public sector, to be worked back later. These do not apply to private companies. No decision for 2027 yet.
Employees of other legal religious denominations get two days off for each of their three main annual religious holidays.

What is fixed and what may change
The holidays follow from article 24 of the Implementing Regulations of the Labour Law: four days for each Eid and one day each for Founding Day and National Day. These are the rules for the private sector.
Founding Day (22 February) and National Day (23 September) have fixed dates. The Eid dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar but are confirmed by the moon sighting and announced by the Ministry of Human Resources shortly before, so they may move by a day.
The weekend is Friday and Saturday. When a holiday overlaps the weekly rest day, the employee gets a day in lieu before or after it. In 2027 this concerns 12 March and 15 May; the exact day is set by the ministry or the employer.

The dates follow from the Law on State and Other Holidays. Orthodox Easter is on 2 May 2027, so the Easter days run from 30 April to 3 May.
When a day of a state holiday falls on a Sunday, the first working day after it is off. This does not apply to Saturdays or to religious holidays. In 2027 it gives one extra day: Tuesday 4 May.
Employees of other faiths may take their own religious days off: Catholic Christmas and Easter, the first days of Ramazan and Kurban Bajram, and Yom Kippur. Orthodox employees may also take the first day of their family patron saint day (slava), which differs per person. The Islamic dates depend on the moon and are not yet confirmed.
The government sometimes recommends extra days off, as it did for 8 January 2024. Such a recommendation does not bind employers.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from Act No. 241/1993 on state holidays, days off and memorial days, as in force from 29 October 2026. Easter follows the Western calendar: 28 March in 2027.
Since November 2025, three state holidays are normal working days: 1 September, 28 October and 17 November. They are not listed. In 2026, 8 May and 15 September were also working days, but that rule applied to 2026 only. In 2027 both are days off again.
Slovakia does not move holidays that fall on a weekend. In 2027, 1 May, 8 May, 29 August, 25 and 26 December fall on a Saturday or Sunday. Parliament could still change the list for budget reasons, as it did for 2026; we found no such change for 2027.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from the Law on Holidays and Days Off (ZPDPD), articles 1 and 2. Easter follows the Western calendar: 28 March in 2027, and Pentecost Sunday is 16 May.
Slovenia does not move holidays that fall on a weekend. The law says a holiday on a Sunday is not moved to the next working day. In 2027 nine of the days off fall on a Saturday or Sunday, including Easter Sunday and Pentecost Sunday.
Some national holidays are working days and are not listed: 8 June, 7 August, 17 August, 15 September, 23 September, 25 October, 10 November and 23 November. 7 August (Triglav Day) was added in October 2026, also as a working day.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates follow from the Public Holidays Act 36 of 1994. Good Friday and Family Day depend on Easter, which is on 28 March in 2027.
When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is a public holiday. In 2027 this gives 22 March and 27 December. Holidays on a Saturday are not moved. The government website lists 22 March but not yet 27 December; both follow from the same rule.
An employer and an employee may agree to exchange a public holiday for another day (section 2(2)).
The President may declare extra one-off public holidays, as was done for the local government elections on 4 November 2026. We found no such declaration for 2027 when we last checked.

What is fixed and what may change
All dates come from the official list of 2027 public holidays published in the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) on 13 October 2026. Each region has 12 holidays: some are national, the others are chosen by the region.
Nine days are holidays in every region. The rest apply only in the regions named in each note. The Canary Islands also have one island holiday on each island.
On top of these, each municipality has up to two local holidays. They are published in the regional or provincial gazettes and are not listed here.
When a national holiday falls on a Sunday, a region may give the next Monday off or replace it with another day. In 2027, 15 August is a Sunday: six regions rest on 16 August and Extremadura on 11 October. 1 May and 25 December fall on a Saturday and are not moved.

What is fixed and what may change
Thailand has no single list of days off for everyone. The Cabinet approves the government holidays each year, the Bank of Thailand sets the bank holidays, and private employers set their own list.
Private employers must announce at least 13 traditional holidays a year in advance, including National Labour Day. They choose the other days from the official, religious or local holidays. If one of these days falls on a weekly day off, the next working day is off.
The dates here, including the Buddhist holidays that follow the lunar calendar, are taken from the 2027 bank holiday list published in the Royal Gazette. The government list for 2027 was not yet approved when we last checked, so 20 July is marked as expected.
Government offices usually also close for the Royal Ploughing Ceremony in May. Its 2027 date had not been announced. The Cabinet may also add special one-off days off.

What is fixed and what may change
The list follows from article 73 of the Labour Code. Since 2023 Christmas is only on 25 December, and 7 January is no longer a holiday. Easter and Trinity follow the Orthodox calendar: 2 May and 20 June in 2027.
Martial law has been in force since February 2022. While it lasts, article 73 does not apply (Law No. 2136-IX, art. 6), so these dates are normal working days. Employers may still give days off in their own schedules.
Martial law was last extended from 31 October 2026 for 90 days. It has been extended every 90 days so far. We found no sign that the bill to restore holidays as days off (No. 14403) has been passed.
If martial law ends, the holidays become days off again, and a holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday moves the day off to the next working day (Labour Code, art. 67). In 2027 that would affect 1 and 8 May, Easter, Trinity and 25 December.

Only New Year and National Day have fixed dates. The Islamic holidays depend on the moon sighting and are announced shortly before. Our dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar and may move by a day.
The official weekend is Saturday and Sunday. A holiday that falls on the weekend is not moved. The Cabinet may move other holidays, but not the Eids, to the start or end of the week. In 2027 Arafat Day, the first day of Eid al-Adha, Islamic New Year and the Prophet's Birthday fall on a weekend.

What is fixed and what may change
The dates come from the official GOV.UK bank holiday list. The main entries are for England and Wales. Days that apply only in Scotland or only in Northern Ireland are marked as partial, with the nation named.
When a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a substitute weekday is given. In 2027 this gives 27 and 28 December everywhere, and 4 January in Scotland.
Employers do not have to give bank holidays as paid leave. They can count them as part of the 5.6 weeks of statutory annual leave. Check the employment contract.
The government can add one-off bank holidays, for example for royal events. None was announced for 2027 when we last checked.

What is fixed and what may change
The 11 federal holidays are set by law in 5 U.S.C. 6103. The dates match the 2027 list published by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
For federal employees, a holiday on a Saturday is observed on the Friday before, and a holiday on a Sunday on the Monday after. In 2027 this moves four days off: 18 June, 5 July, 24 December and 31 December (for 1 January 2028).
Federal holidays bind the federal government as an employer. Federal law does not require private employers to give holidays off or to pay for them; this is a matter of agreement between employer and employee.
States have their own holidays, which are not shown here.

What is fixed and what may change
The Labour Code gives 11 paid holidays: New Year, 5 days of Tet, Hung Kings' Day, 30 April, 1 May and 2 days for National Day. Since July 2026 a National Assembly resolution adds 24 November, Vietnam Culture Day, every year.
Tet and Hung Kings' Day follow the lunar calendar. The Ministry of Home Affairs (Bộ Nội vụ) has published the 2027 schedule: the civil service is off from 4 to 10 February and from 2 to 5 September.
Private employers choose one of three options for the five Tet days and choose 1 or 3 September as the second National Day. They must tell employees at least 30 days in advance. The ministry encourages them to follow the civil service schedule.
When a holiday falls on a weekly rest day, the next working day is off. In 2027 this gives 9 and 10 February (for the civil service) and 3 May.
